Split a PDF by Page Range: A Checklist Before You Send It

Split a PDF into page ranges, then verify page counts, file names, bookmarks and signatures before sharing the results.

Write down the pages you need

Suppose a 12-page PDF has a cover and contents on pages 1–2, the main document on pages 3–8, and attachments on pages 9–12. If the main document and attachments need separate recipients, write down 3-8 and 9-12 first. A splitting tool follows your ranges; it cannot decide which information a recipient should see.

Open the Split PDF tool and select the file. Once the page count appears, choose the range mode and enter 3-8;9-12. The semicolon separates output files. A comma can combine non-adjacent pages in one file. Check the preview and page counts before selecting Split PDF.

Verify the downloaded files

This example should produce two files: one with 6 pages and one with 4 pages. Open both downloads. Check the first and last page of each file, then compare the page count with your plan. Give each file a descriptive name before sending it, especially if the recipients differ.

Splitting may invalidate digital signatures. Bookmarks and links that point across the removed pages may also stop working. The tool displays these limitations near the controls. If a signed original has legal or procedural importance, keep it and confirm the accepted delivery method with the recipient.

If something goes wrong

If a range is wrong, return to the tool and generate the files again from the original. For a large PDF, processing speed and memory use depend on your device and browser; try fewer pages per run if it stalls. The PDF is read and split in your browser rather than uploaded to Qudo. You still need to check the recipient and attachments before sending.
