Batch Image Rotation Tool

This tool lets you rotate and flip images in batch. Rotate left or right by 90°, flip by 180°, or enter any custom angle. You can also flip images horizontally or vertically. All processing happens locally in your browser — no uploads required.

How to Use

  1. Add images by clicking, dragging, or pasting from clipboard.
  2. Select which images to process (all, landscape, portrait, or manually selected).
  3. Choose rotation or flip operation and set the scope.
  4. Configure background color and output format if needed.
  5. Click "Start Processing" to begin.
  6. Download individual images or all results as a ZIP file.

90° Rotation vs Custom Angle

Rotating by 90° or 270° swaps the width and height of the image. For example, a 1920×1080 image becomes 1080×1920 after a right 90° rotation. Custom angle rotation requires choosing a canvas mode to handle the new edges.

Canvas Modes Explained

When rotating by a non-90° multiple, empty areas may appear. "Expand Canvas" enlarges the canvas to show the full rotated image. "Keep Original Size" maintains the original dimensions and crops any overflow. "Maximum Inscribed" scales the image down so everything fits within the original bounds, which may leave background-colored edges.

EXIF Orientation

Phone cameras often record the device orientation in EXIF metadata rather than physically rotating pixels. This tool normalizes the display orientation so your edits match what you see. After re-exporting, some EXIF information may not be preserved.

Rotation vs Flip

Rotation changes the direction of the image by turning it around its center. Horizontal flip creates a mirror image (left becomes right). Vertical flip inverts the image top to bottom.

JPG Re-encoding

When exporting to JPG, the image is re-encoded using the browser's Canvas API. This may introduce slight quality loss compared to the original. This tool does not perform lossless JPEG rotation.

Data & Privacy

All image processing happens entirely in your browser. Images are never uploaded to any server. File names are not sent to analytics services. Refreshing or closing the page releases all image data from memory.

Limitations

Animated GIF only processes the first frame. Very large images may fail on devices with limited memory. PSD, TIFF, HEIC and RAW formats are not supported. Maximum 50 images per batch, 30 MB per file, 200 MB total.

Can I rotate multiple images at once?▼
Yes. Add multiple images and apply rotation to all, selected, or filtered images.
How do I rotate only portrait images?▼
Set the apply scope to "All Portrait" before applying the rotation.
Why do width and height swap after 90° rotation?▼
This is correct behavior. Rotating an image 90° changes its orientation, so dimensions swap.
Can I enter a custom rotation angle?▼
Yes. Use the custom angle input to specify any angle from -360° to 360°.
Why are there empty edges after custom angle rotation?▼
Rotating by non-90° multiples creates gaps. Use "Expand Canvas" mode to show the full image, or choose a background color to fill the gaps.
Can JPG use transparent background?▼
No. JPG does not support transparency. If you select transparent background with JPG output, the background will be filled with white or your chosen color.
Does rotation reduce image quality?▼
90°/180°/270° rotations are pixel-perfect for most cases. Custom angle rotation involves resampling which may cause slight quality loss. JPG re-encoding also introduces minor quality loss.
What is EXIF orientation?▼
EXIF orientation is metadata that tells viewers how to display the image. Phone cameras use this instead of physically rotating pixels. This tool normalizes EXIF orientation for consistent results.
Why is my downloaded photo oriented incorrectly?▼
The tool normalizes orientation during processing. After re-export, the EXIF orientation is reset to normal, so the image should display correctly everywhere.
Are animated GIFs supported?▼
Only the first frame is processed. Animation is not preserved in the output.
Can I flip images horizontally or vertically?▼
Yes. Use the flip buttons to create mirror images horizontally or vertically.
Why does processing large images fail?▼
Large images require significant browser memory. If your device runs out of memory, try smaller images or process fewer at once.
How do I download all results?▼
After processing, click "Download All (ZIP)" to get a single ZIP file containing all processed images.
