Some pages in a scanned PDF are sideways: rotate only those pages
Use an eight-page scan to find the wrong pages, rotate only those pages, and check the downloaded PDF.
An eight-page scan arrives with page 3 sideways and page 6 upside down. The tempting shortcut is to rotate the whole file. That fixes two pages and breaks the other six.
Find the pages before changing anything
Open the PDF rotation tool and load the original file. Scan the thumbnails and write down the file page numbers that need attention. Count from the first page in the PDF, even if a cover or a printed page number suggests something else.
A wide page is not necessarily wrong. A chart or drawing may have been designed for landscape reading. Ask whether the text reads naturally when the page is displayed, rather than trying to make every thumbnail look the same shape.
Rotate the two problem pages
Select page 3 and use Rotate Left or Rotate Right until the text faces up. Clear the selection, then select page 6 and rotate it 180°. Watch the selected-page count before each action. In this tool, a rotation command with no pages selected can apply to every page.
If the wrong page moved, use Undo and check the selection again. For several adjacent pages facing the same way, the range selector can save clicks. Do not apply one angle to a mixed set of sideways and upside-down pages.
Check the exported file, not just the thumbnail
Generate the PDF and save the new file with the -rotated.pdf suffix. Open that download in a PDF reader. The result should still have eight pages; pages 3 and 6 should read upright, and a page that was already correct should still be correct. Flip through all eight pages once before sending it.
Rotating by 90 or 180 degrees will not straighten a scan that is tilted a few degrees, and it will not turn scanned text into searchable text. Those require deskewing or OCR. Keep the original file so you can return to it if the result needs another pass.
If the PDF already carries a digital signature or interactive elements, verify those in the exported copy before delivery. Changing a signed PDF may affect its signature status.
