Qudo's online word count tool analyzes the length of Chinese, English and mixed text. After entering text, the tool calculates characters, Chinese characters, English words, digits, lines, paragraphs and sentences in real time. How to Use

Longer text may take slightly longer to process, but most text is analyzed instantly. The tool never modifies your input.

Counting Rules

Total Characters

Includes Chinese characters, English letters, digits, punctuation, spaces and emoji. Line breaks are not counted as visible characters.

No Spaces

Excludes regular spaces, tabs, line breaks and full-width spaces from the total character count.

Chinese Characters

Counts only Chinese characters (汉字). Chinese punctuation such as ,。!? is not included.

English Words

Words like don't and Qudo's count as one word. well-known counts as one word. Pure numbers are not counted as English words. Underscore-connected text is treated as one word.

Digit Characters

Counts each individual digit character. For example, 123 contains 3 digit characters.

Digit Groups

Counts consecutive digit sequences as one group. For example, 123 is one digit group.

Lines

Each text segment separated by a line break counts as one line. Trailing empty lines are not counted.

Paragraphs

Non-empty text blocks separated by one or more blank lines count as one paragraph. Individual lines are not counted as separate paragraphs.

Sentences

Sentences are estimated by punctuation marks: 。!?.!? This is an approximation and may not accurately handle all abbreviations, code and special text.

Emoji, combining characters, English abbreviations and hyphenated words may also vary due to different counting rules.
