What is Social Media Image Resizer?

A free online tool that helps you resize and crop images for different social media platforms. Select one or more platform templates, adjust the crop position, and export multiple sizes at once. All processing happens in your browser – no uploads.

How to Use

  1. Upload one or more images by drag-and-drop, file picker, or clipboard paste.
  2. Select the social platforms and specific templates you need.
  3. Click "Preview & Crop" to adjust the image position, zoom, and background.
  4. Click "Generate All" to export all selected sizes.
  5. Download individually or as a ZIP archive.

Supported Platforms

Instagram (posts, stories, reels, profile), TikTok (video covers, profile), YouTube (thumbnails, Shorts, channel banner, avatar), Facebook (cover, posts, stories, profile), LinkedIn (personal and company covers, posts, profile), X/Twitter (posts, header, profile), Pinterest (standard, square, long pins, profile).

Image Size Guide

Each platform has recommended image dimensions for different content types. Using the correct size ensures your images display at their best quality without unwanted cropping or stretching.

Fill vs. Fit

"Fill" mode makes the image cover the entire canvas, cropping any excess. "Fit" mode shows the complete image with background filling the remaining space. Neither mode stretches the image.

What is a Safe Area?

Some platforms display images differently on different devices. For example, YouTube channel banners show different areas on TV, desktop and mobile. The safe area indicates the region visible on all devices – keep important text and logos within this zone.

Choosing Output Format

JPG is best for photos and produces smaller files. PNG supports transparency and is ideal for graphics with solid colors. WebP offers good compression with quality comparable to JPG. Choose based on your content type and platform requirements.

Data & Privacy

All image processing happens entirely in your browser. Images are never uploaded to any server. EXIF and GPS metadata is removed by default. No image data is stored or transmitted.

Limitations

Maximum input file size is 50 MB. Very high resolution images may be limited by browser canvas size (typically 8192×8192 pixels). Animated GIFs use only the first frame. HEIC support depends on browser capabilities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are images uploaded to a server?

No. All processing happens entirely in your browser. Images never leave your device.

Which social platforms are supported?

Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, X/Twitter and Pinterest, with presets for posts, stories, covers, thumbnails and profile pictures.

Can I generate multiple sizes at once?

Yes. Select multiple platform templates and all sizes will be generated from each uploaded image.

What is a safe area?

A safe area shows the region visible on all devices for templates like channel banners. Keep important content within the safe area to avoid cropping.

Why do covers display differently on different devices?

Platforms like YouTube use different crop regions for TV, desktop and mobile. The safe area indicates what is visible everywhere.

Why are avatars shown as circles but downloaded as squares?

Platforms display avatars as circles, but the actual file is square. This avoids quality issues from platform-side re-processing.

How do I avoid important content being cropped?

Use the preview editor to adjust the image position. For templates with safe areas, keep text and logos within the safe zone.

Can I keep transparent backgrounds?

Yes, use PNG output format with transparent background. Note that JPG does not support transparency.

Are EXIF and GPS data removed?

Yes, by default all metadata is stripped from output images. You can choose to keep it, but a privacy warning will be shown.

Is batch processing supported?

Yes. Upload multiple images and they will each be processed with all selected templates.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. The tool is responsive and supports touch gestures for zooming and panning.

What if platform specs change?

The presets are based on current recommendations. If specs change, the preset configuration file can be updated without modifying the editor.
